Elden Ring is quickly becoming the most popular game amongst gamers. Everyone from Post Malone to Elon Musk seems to be talking about it. One of the major challenges, however, is to know 1) if your graphics card can handle Elden Ring, and 2) how your graphics card will perform on different resolutions with the graphics card you have. The purpose of this article is to review AMD Radeon’s RX 6600 XT graphics card and provide some approximate benchmark performance metrics based on FPS against Elden Ring.
Elden Ring’s System Requirements
Elden Ring’s minimum system requirements for a graphics card show the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB or AMD RADEON RX 580 4 GB. The recommended system requirements for Elden Ring are the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB or AMD RADEON RX VEGA 56 8 GB. The Radeon RX 6600 XT is a step above the RX Vega 56 8GB graphics card. This means that the RX 6600 XT will exceed the recommended system requirement for Elden Ring.
The Radeon RX 6600 XT is not a trivial card by any means, and it is quickly growing in popularity. AMD provides some metrics on other popular games like Assassin’s Creed, Valorant, Apex Legends, and Resident Evil Village. These titles were tested on 1080P on maximum graphics settings and showed promising results. But 1080P is the lowest resolution. Although 1080P provides the best performance for professional gamers, 1440P and 4K are desired for a more immersive experience. And that is what Elden Ring players would likely be attracted to.
Benchmarks for the 6600 XT
The benchmarks displayed are listed based on resolution sizes and how many frames per second (FPS) the graphics card can deliver to the monitor. The more or higher the FPS number, the better the performance will be. Lower performance, or performance below 60 FPS can lead to some choppiness or stuttering in game performance. This causes a frustrating experience for the gamer as it is disruptive and causes distraction. The FPS in the chart above is the average FPS. Gamer’s Nexus provides a good overview of benchmarking GPUs to learn more.
Elden Ring developers capped the FPS of this game at 60, but with mods it can go past that. For that reason, these benchmarks show above 60 FPS. They are uncapped. The only issue with playing uncapped FPS is that you can’t play it online since the game has been modified.

6600 XT at 4K Resolution for Elden Ring
The Radeon RX 6600 XT does support 4K but is not well suited to play modern AAA game titles in that resolution. The 6600 XT is a graphics card meant for gamers who are satisfied with playing games at 1080P or 1440P. Most gamers today, according to Steam’s May 2022 Hardware Survey still play at 1080P (67%) or 1440P (10%). Only about 2% play at 4K resolution. The benchmark on this chart shows about 50 FPS, which is not ideal but also not terrible.
6600 XT at 1440P Resolution for Elden Ring
The RX 6600 XT is the perfect graphics card for gamers who enjoy 1440P resolution. It may not, however align with gamers whose monitors refresh rates are faster than 60Hz. The FPS range for the 6600 XT is somewhere between 55-65 frames per second for maximum graphics settings. But a game like Elden Ring will likely not need more than that compared to competitive first-person shooter games like Fortnite or Call of Duty. If you do find yourself needing higher than 60 FPS and not getting it, you will have to turn your graphics settings down.
6600 XT at 1080P Resolution for Elden Ring
If 1080P is all your monitor supports, then you should have no worry about using the RX 6600 XT graphics card. It will provide more than what you need at the maximum graphics settings for Elden Ring.
6600 XT Popularity
Steam’s Hardware Survey shows us that the 6600 XT is not as popular when compared to its NVIDIA rivals. The 6600 XT currently serves 0.33% of gamers compared to the RTX 3050 which serves 1.12% of gamers. However, most gamers will find AMD’s 6600 XT a perfect GPU for 1440P or 1080P resolutions at any graphics settings. For those who like 4K resolution, it almost seems to defeat the purpose of 4K if you have to do it at a lower graphics setting. Gamers who play at 4K resolution likely will want the best graphics possible to fully immerse themselves into the Elden Ring world.
