The purpose of this article is to analyze the Alienware M15 R6 laptop against a list of the top 13 games. We will look at the system requirements of each game and how it compares to the specs of the Alienware M15 R6. We will also look at performance expectations the Alienware M15 R6 laptop will deliver. You may need to upgrade your laptop if it is old, does not meet system requirements of modern games or if you are experiencing performance issues.
Alienware M15 R6 System Specs
We should look at the system specs of the Alienware M15 R6 before we review the individual games and how they will perform against it. We will analyze each component and discuss how it would be impactful towards gaming experience and performance. The Alienware M15 R6 system specs are below:
- Screen Size: 15.7 Inches
- Screen Resolution (Max): 1920 x 1080 pixels
- Processor: Intel Core i7-11800H
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz
- Hard Drive: 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD
- Graphics Laptop GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB
- Wireless: 802.11ax & Bluetooth
Screen Size and Resolution
The screen size of the Alienware M15 R6 is 15.7 inches. While this might make the laptop more portable it also might leave gamers wanting more. That being said, a 15.7-inch display on a laptop is not all that bad. It really doesn’t have an impact on your gaming performance, just your gaming experience. Sure, it would be great if you had a 42″ OLED display, but this is a laptop and that’s the tradeoff.
The resolution of the Alienware M15 R6 is 1080P and that is the maximum you can have. 1080P is what most professional gamers use because it provides the best performance compared to 1440P and 4K resolutions. That’s because the graphics card is doing less work to pump out each image frame per second (FPS). That means it can produce more FPS. So, that’s a good thing.
Processor
The processor of the Alienware M15 R6 is an Intel Core i7-11800H. It’s an 8-core, 16-thread processor with a max turbo frequency of 4.6GHz. This is the 11th generation of Intel processors (Tiger Lake). Intel is currently on 12th generation processors, but this processor is still a beast and will perform excellent for all modern AAA games.
RAM
The Alienware M15 R6 comes configured with 32GB of DDR4 3200Mhz RAM. You shouldn’t go below 16GB of RAM and you don’t need higher than 32GB of RAM for gaming. RAM won’t be a bottleneck for gaming on this laptop for the next 5 years. Even if it eventually did become a bottleneck, the Core i7-11800H has a maximum RAM configuration of 128GB, so you can always upgrade.
Hard Drive
The Alienware M15 R6 comes configured with a 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD. The M.2 SSD has up to 6x transfer speeds than traditional SSD because they now plug directly into the motherboard through the PCIe slot. Hard drive speed won’t be a bottleneck on the Alienware M15 R6. The only one concern is the size of hard drive. Modern AAA games require around 20-60GB of space and that data size is growing over time. You should consider getting a separate NAS (network attached storage) device if you do any other work with graphics or photos because your hard drive will fill up fast.
Graphics Laptop GPU
The Alienware M15 R6 comes configured with an NVIDIA RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. The NVIDIA RTX 3070 Laptop GPU has less performance than its desktop counterpart, but not by much. You can compare them below:
NVIDIA RTX 3070 Laptop GPU | NVIDIA RTX 3070 Desktop GPU | |
CUDA Cores | 5120 | 5888 |
Boost Clock | 1.6 | 1.73 |
Memory Size | 8 GB | 8 GB |
Memory Type | GDDR6 | GDDR6 |
The specs on the RTX 3070 Laptop GPU actually show that it will perform better than the RTX 3060 Ti desktop GPU. You won’t be gaming on 1440P or 4K resolution with the Alienware M15 R6 and so you probably won’t ever need anything more than the RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. There is an argument to be made that you cannot consider this GPU a bottleneck, which is most often the case with graphics cards.
Wireless
The Alienware M15 R6 comes configured with the latest generation of wireless technology. The AX (Wi-Fi 6) has network speeds of up to almost 10Gbps (theoretically). Real world results are less than that of course, but nonetheless it’s a huge upgrade from wireless AC. Wi-Fi 6 also can reduce latency by up to 75% because it handles traffic more efficiently.

Far Cry 6
The system requirements below show that Far Cry 6 only requires an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB graphics card. It also shows an i7-7700 @ 3.6 Ghz. We know from our review of the Alienware’s M15 R6 hardware that it is superior to these requirements. Far Cry 6 will perform well on Alienware’s M15 R6. You should be able to turn your graphics all the way up to Ultra with HD textures on. You should expect to get over 60 FPS and not experience any stuttering issues or latency problems (unless it’s your internet).

Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 has rich graphics and provides an immersive experience. The Alienware M15 R6 laptop can play Red Dead Redemption 2 well, but only up to using High graphics. Once you move up to Ultra graphics, you will notice a performance hit and perhaps some stuttering issues with the game. The recommended requirements list a GTX 1060 6GB graphics card, but that won’t be enough for Ultra graphics settings on 1080P. Neither will the RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.

Elden Ring
Elden Ring has rich graphics and provides an immersive gaming experience. You will be able to play Elden Ring well on the Alienware M15 R6 laptop. The recommended system requirements for Elden Ring show a GeForce GTX 1070 8GB graphics card. The Alienware M15 R6 comes with a 3070 Laptop GPU, which we know from the comparison we did that it is comparable to its desktop counterpart. The processor nor the RAM present a bottleneck for Elden Ring when it comes to the Alienware M15 R6. You should expect to play Elden Ring on High or Ultra graphics settings. It is known that Elden Ring has had stuttering problems, despite the hardware components you may have.

Fortnite
Fortnite will perform well on the Alienware M15 R6 laptop. The system requirements for Fortnite’s Epic quality presets call for an i7-8700 and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 4GB graphics card as well as 16GB of RAM. The Alienware M15 R6 has an i7-11800H processor, NVIDIA RTX 3070 laptop GPU and 32GB of RAM. That means you should have no problem setting your graphics settings all the way up to Epic and have no performance problems. All the system components of the Alienware M15 R6 far surpass the Epic requirements of Fortnite.

Diablo 4
Neither the game nor the system requirements for Diablo 4 have been released yet. It is tough to say how the Alienware M15 R6 laptop will perform for this game. We can speculate the system requirements for Diablo 4 based on what Blizzard has done in the past. If we were to look at the system requirements for Diablo: Immortal for example, we might conclude that the release of Diablo 4’s system requirements would have some similarities. If that is the case, then the Alienware M15 R6 should have no problem playing Diablo 4.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)
The system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) have not been published yet. Just like with Diablo 4, it is difficult to say how the performance will be for any pre-built PC or laptop today. The Alienware M15 R6 does have good hardware for modern AAA games and COD MW2 2022 will be released relatively shortly (October 28, 2022). Looking at Call of Duty: Vanguard, you could put this laptop between its recommended and competitive system requirements. If COD MW2 2022 will be similar in system requirements, then you should feel confident with the Alienware M15 R6.
Call of Duty: Warzone
Call of Duty: Warzone lists five (5) categories of hardware specifications. The Alienware M15 R6 would easily surpass the Recommended Specifications and would go into the Competitive Specifications. It would have more than enough processor and RAM for Ultra RTX Specifications, but it may be lacking a little for the graphics card specification. The RTX 3070 Laptop GPU doesn’t quite compare with the RTX 2080 SUPER’s clock speed. All else considered the RTX 3070 laptop GPU is superior to the 2080 SUPER, including the architecture technology (Ampere) and CUDA cores. That being said, Ultra RTX specifications are only for those who will be gaming in 4K. Since the the Alienware M15 R6 only has 1080P, it will easily play COD: Warzone on high graphics settings. You will not experience stuttering as a result of any bottlenecks on this laptop.

Call of Duty: Vanguard
The system requirements for Call of Duty: Vanguard call for an NVIDIA RTX 2070 or RTX 3060 Ti for its Competitive category. The NVIDIA RTX 3070 Laptop GPU outperforms both of these graphic card requirements and none of the other requirements present a bottleneck. Of course, the Alienware M15 R6 won’t be able to play on Ultra 4K resolution because it only has a maximum resolution of 1080P. The specs on the Alienware M15 R6 also don’t match up to that category.

Halo: Infinite
The Alienware M15 R6 will be able to play Halo: Infinite well on Ultra settings at 1080P resolution. There are no bottlenecks that are presented with the hardware on this laptop for Halo: Infinite. The system requirements for Halo: Infinite call for an NVIDIA RTX 2070, which has less performance and technology than the RTX 3070 laptop GPU.

CS:GO
CS:GO has very minimal performance requirements so the Alienware M15 R6 will easily be able to play this game with maximum graphics settings turned up. The only thing stopping this laptop from advancing to higher levels is that it is capped to 1080P resolution.

PUBG
PUBG does not require a lot of horsepower performance so the Alienware M15 R6’s components easily surpass its system requirements. You will be able to turn your graphics settings all the way up to Ultra and play PUBG with a very smooth gaming experience. You should not experience any stuttering with this laptop and PUBG.

Minecraft
Minecraft’s system requirements are low and so you will have no problem playing this game for this laptop. You can turn your graphics up to fancy and experience zero stuttering problems.

Starfield
Starfield’s system requirements have not been published yet, but here again we may speculate what they will be. Given that Bethesda has traditionally released games with rich graphics we need to be a little careful. Starfield is not only a first-person shooter, but also provides battlegrounds with air-to-air combat, and over 1,000 worlds to explore. It is likely there will be some serious system requirements for this game, but it is also doubtful that Bethesda would alienate its audience by making them too high. The Alienware M15 R6 should be able to play Starfield at least on minimum settings, but we cannot be 100% sure until the actual system requirements are published.
Conclusion
In this article, we analyzed 13 of the most popular modern games against Alienware’s M15 R6 gaming laptop. We found that all of the games except those with system requirements that have not been released yet would perform well. The Alienware M15 R6 is a true gaming laptop meant for modern AAA games. It did not have a hardware limitation or bottleneck we found during this analysis. And it played most of the games very well on maximum graphics settings.
