The purpose of this article is to share troubleshooting tips when you can’t save run configuration on Cisco Nexus switches. The reason for this is that it is most likely related to Field Notice: FN – 72150. Cisco Nexus 9000/3000 switches will fail when they try to save configuration changes. This is due to a firmware flaw in the SSD drive. After about three years of running, the SSD firmware will no longer respond.

The short-term fix to resolve this issue is to perform a power-cycle. Doing that will give you another six weeks before the problem happens again.
There are essentially three options you have in order to permanently resolve this issue:
- Upgrade the NX-OS Version
- Upgrade the SSD Firmware
- Upgrade the SSD Firmware Using a Script
You can read the whole field notice for instructions on performing these steps or you can contact a Cisco Specialist to get help and have them do it for you.
