My goal in writing this article is to give you a list of graphics cards that perform well for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Warzone 2.0. At least well enough for 1080P resolution and above 60 FPS (the minimum FPS needed for good performance). If you want to skip ahead, read my review on the GTX 1660 SUPER. Cheapest Graphics Cards for COD MW2 (2022)
I will go through each graphics card and list out what you can expect in terms of performance and resolution. Only graphics cards that you can actually go out and buy new on Amazon.com will be displayed, so do not expect a comprehensive list of GPUs that could theoretically perform well if only you could find them.
NVIDIA Graphics Cards for COD MW2 | Warzone 2.0
I’m going to start by saying that I am only going to talk about NVIDIA graphics cards. They are the most popular graphics cards (see for yourself on the Steam Hardware Survey) and have the least number of bugs and errors compared to AMD Radeon. NVIDIA seems to always release new patches for games and come out with new features for existing GPUs.
I am not going to talk about the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 900 series graphics cards even though it is listed as a minimum requirement for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0. In my mind, the minimum requirement specs are only for those who already have a gaming PC and are just looking to temporarily play a game until they upgrade to something that has more along the lines of recommended or better hardware.
I am also not going to talk about the NVIDIA GeForce 10x (e.g. GeForce GTX 1050 Ti) series graphics cards. They are two generations behind in architecture and literally for $20-$40 more you can get brand new GTX 1600 series graphics cards. The NVIDIA GeForce 10 series graphics cards are just not worth the bang for the buck. You should be looking at GeForce GTX 1600 series GPUs for starter graphics cards with NVIDIA.
RTX 30 series graphics cards won’t be discussed here either since they definitely are not the cheapest graphics cards. Neither will the RTX 20 series cards since they are no longer in production anyway.
For NVIDIA Cards, we will talk about some of the cards you can find now on Amazon.com and the best brands for them. If you know anything about graphics cards, then you know that they are either manufactured by NVIDIA or AMD Radeon (and now Intel). They are then sold by the likes of companies such as EVGA, ZOTAC, ASUS and others.
Best Brand for NVIDIA Graphics Cards
In my opinion, the best brand for NVIDIA graphics cards is EVGA. The reason for that is because I live in the U.S.A. and they are U.S. based and have support located here. They also have a good warranty and return process. They come at a little bit higher expense than other graphics cards, but I look at the premium as a sort of insurance. EVGA is also very active in the gaming community and design their products around the needs and desires of gamers.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16x Series Graphics Cards
I am going to start my list by showcasing the NVIDIA GeForce 16x Series graphics cards. This line includes the following GPUs:
- GeForce GTX 1630 (Do Not Recommend for COD MW2)
- GeForce GTX 1650 (G5) (Do Not Recommend for COD MW2)
- GeForce GTX 1650 (G6)
- GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER
- GeForce GTX 1660

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 for COD MW2 (2022) | Warzone 2.0
I cannot recommend the GeForce GTX 1630 for COD MW2. It seems to struggle to get up to 60 FPS on 1080P resolution with low graphics settings and doesn’t seem to quite get there. If you already have it, then yes you can play it, but don’t expect great performance out of this GPU for COD MW2. You also may experience some stuttering or choppiness in your gameplay.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (G6) for COD MW2 (2022) | Warzone 2
I would consider this graphics card as your very bare minimum entry-level graphics card for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0. You can expect to play on 1080P resolution but you should keep your graphics settings low to avoid choppiness and to enjoy good performance. The great thing about this graphics card is the price. ZOTAC is the price leader and although my normal vote would be for EVGA, the price difference is too steep. If you have to keep it under $200 and have to play COD MW2, then this is the card to get.
Also, don’t be fooled by getting the 1650 G5 (GDDR5). There is a good deal of performance increases from the GDDR6 (G6) and the price difference is mere dollars. Totally worth it to get the GDDR6 version.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER for COD MW2 | Warzone 2.0
You will definitely get better performance out of the GTX 1650 SUPER for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0 (versus 1650 (G6)). My only gripe with this graphics card is that you can spend an extra $20 to get a much superior graphics card (see GTX 1660 SUPER below). You can expect to play COD MW2 on medium graphic settings with the 1650 SUPER and get above 60 FPS on 1080P resolution. This card also uses GDDR6 memory, has 30% more CUDA cores and has faster processing speed over the GTX 1650 (G6). It is a recommend for me if you are okay playing on medium graphics settings and for whatever reason can’t fork over the extra $20-$40 for a vastly superior GPU. We also see the pricing even out between brands and here is where I get to recommend EVGA since their pricing is in line with the others on Amazon.com.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER for COD MW2 | Warzone 2.0
Out of this list of cheapest graphics cards, I honestly think the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER is going to be your best bet for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0. I did a full review of it here. It is the cheapest card in the line up from NVIDIA that gets you to playing COD MW2 2022 and Warzone 2.0 on ultra-high graphics settings on 1080P resolution. You can even do 1440P, but why if the graphics are less quality? Same with 4K. Did I skip the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660? Yes, I decided to go straight for the GTX 1660 SUPER for COD MW2. The first reason being is that the GTX 1660 was produced with GDDR5 VRAM vs GDDR6. The second reason is that there is almost no price difference, so it’s a no brainer.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0
Well, well, well, what can I say about the GTX 1660 Ti? I can say that prices range wildly on outlets like Amazon.com anywhere from the high $200s to the mid $500s. Do you get better performance over the 1660 SUPER? Sure, you can play low graphics on 1440P resolution, but why? I would personally stick with the 1660 SUPEP to get a better deal and get similar performance on COD MW2. The 1660 Ti is just not quite worth it in my opinion.
Conclusion – Which GPU to Buy for COD MW2 | Warzone 2
If you have read the entire article, you should know that I recommend the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER over any of the others. The only reason to go to the GTX 1650 would be for price and I don’t recommend the GTX 1630 for COD MW2. You also would not select the 1650 SUPER over the 1660 SUPER because the price difference is minimal and the performance gains are significant. It’s a no brainer really.
