The purpose of this article is to provide instructions on how to connect a MacBook Air M1 to a TV. The MacBook Air M1 (2020) laptop comes with two Thunderbolt ports. These are also called USB 4 ports. In order to physically connect it to your TV, you will need a USB C to HDMI Cable. The one pictured below can be purchased from Amazon.
This type of cable will allow you to connect your MacBook Air M1 to your TV or PC. You can also use this cable for iPads, but this won’t work for your iPhone. It’s not the right size.
Connect Your MacBook Air M1 to your TV Over WiFi
You can also connect to your TV over wireless. It’s pretty reliable and you don’t notice a performance impact. The only reason you would connect via a cable is if wireless is not stable or has poor performance.
To connect to your TV, simply navigate to the top of your screen as pictured below. Click on your control center and select Screen Mirroring. Then select the screen which you want to connect to. You should have your both your TV and your MacBook Air M1 connected to the same network. If you’re not on the same network, the MacBook Air M1 will not see the TV.

Connecting your MacBook Air M1 to your TV is the same process for MacBook Air M2 and iPads.
