Does Replacing Your SIM Card Erase Your Photos?

Posted on June 16, 2022June 16, 2022 By Eriksson No Comments on Does Replacing Your SIM Card Erase Your Photos?

The purpose of this article is to discuss I had a person ask me recently, “does replacing your SIM card erase your photos”? This person had a Samsung mobile device and was switching carriers. They did not want to manually backup their photos, although this is always a good idea.

Replacing your SIM card will not result in losing photos. However, any applications or contacts stored on the SIM card will be lost. Furthermore, if it is a corporate phone and has mobile antivirus, the phone could become locked down if the SIM card is removed. Some SIM cards may also hold text message data. But this is all for typically older phones.

Modern phones store data on internal storage and the SIM card only provides carrier and device information. That being said, it is always a good idea to backup data stored on a mobile phone to another data repository like the cloud or at a home computer.
