The purpose of this article is to discuss the performance expectations between NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti against STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor.

The gaming industry is continually evolving, with new games pushing the boundaries of graphics and performance. NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti has been a popular choice among budget-conscious gamers, offering decent performance at an affordable price point. In this article, we aim to explore the performance expectations of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti specifically when running the highly anticipated game, STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor.
My Opinion – GTX 1050 Ti vs STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor
In my opinion, you should be looking at a different graphics card in order to play Jedi: Survivor. This game takes 8GB of VRAM as a minimum requirement. Even at 8GB of VRAM, the game struggles to reach 60 FPS on 1080P resolution using low graphics settings on some graphics cards. You really need to look at a superior graphics card for this game. I recommend as a starting point, the RTX 3060 Ti, RX 6600 or RX 6600 XT. The lowest cost out of the three would be the RX 6600 and it will get you 1080P gaming on high graphics settings. I will go into why the 1050 Ti is not suitable to play this game if you keep reading.
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Overview
The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is a mid-range graphics card released by NVIDIA. It features 4GB of GDDR5 video memory and is built on the Pascal architecture. While it may not be the most powerful option on the market, it has garnered a reputation for delivering solid performance in many popular games, making it an attractive choice for gamers on a budget.
STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor PC Requirements
STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor is a visually stunning game that immerses players in the Star Wars universe. As a player, you embark on a thrilling adventure, wielding lightsabers and using the Force to overcome various challenges. The game incorporates advanced graphics, realistic environments, and complex visual effects, which demand a capable gaming rig to deliver a smooth and enjoyable experience. This is why when you look at the PC requirements for this game, they are so high.

So Why Won’t the 1050 Ti Play Jedi Survivor?
Let’s compare the PC requirements (GTX 1070 and RTX 2070) to the GTX 1050 Ti.
Here’s a table comparing the specifications of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1070, and RTX 2070 graphics cards:
Specifications | GeForce GTX 1050 Ti | GeForce GTX 1070 | GeForce RTX 2070 |
---|---|---|---|
Architecture | Pascal | Pascal | Turing |
CUDA Cores | 768 | 1920 | 2304 |
Base Clock Speed | 1290 MHz | 1506 MHz | 1410 MHz |
Boost Clock Speed | 1392 MHz | 1683 MHz | 1620 MHz |
VRAM | 4GB GDDR5 | 8GB GDDR5 | 8GB GDDR6 |
Memory Speed | 7 Gbps | 8 Gbps | 14 Gbps |
Memory Interface | 128-bit | 256-bit | 256-bit |
Memory Bandwidth | 112.1 GB/s | 256 GB/s | 448 GB/s |
TDP (Thermal Design Power) | 75W | 150W | 175W |
DirectX Support | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 |
Ray Tracing Support | No | No | Yes |
Please note that the table provides a general overview of the specifications, and actual performance may vary depending on factors such as game optimization and driver updates.
As you can see from the table, the GTX 1050 Ti is lacking in several areas compared to the GTX 1070, the minimum requirement to play the game. It has half the VRAM, half the bandwidth, less-than half the cores, and has slower clock speeds. There is no way this card can play STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor and any attempt to do so would lead to frustration.
My Recommendation – Graphics Cards for Jedi: Survivor
My recommendation is that if you are looking for an entry level graphics card, you should look at the RX 6600. I would also not recommend the GTX 1650, GTX 1660 SUPER, RTX 3060, or RX 6400. Those GPUs just don’t make the cut. The RX 6600 is really your lowest-end graphics card in my opinion that will allow you to play this game at decent FPS on Epic Settings on 1080P.
