The purpose of this article is to share an RTX 3060 Fortnite Benchmark. The GeForce RTX 3060 is one of the lowest priced model of NVIDIA’s 30x graphics cards. The NVIDIA 3050 is the lowest. It also has the second lowest performance profile, but don’t let that hold you back from buying one. If Fortnite is one of the main games you plan on playing then this could be a good GPU for you. At $329.00 MSRP, it is actually an attractive option considering the higher prices of other graphics cards. Not only that but it has 12GB of VRAM, higher than the 3060 Ti and 3070 Ti (8GB). Additionally, Fortnite’s system requirements only requires 4GB of VRAM for Epic presets, so there is no worry about overtaxing this card from that point of view.
Fortnite System Requirements
Before jumping ahead to the benchmarks, let’s take a look at Fortnite’s system requirements.

Here, we can see that Fortnite requires an NVIDIA GTX 1080 (or RX 5700 XT). It also has a requirement of 4 GB of VRAM. The RTX 3060 outperforms the GTX 1080 in every metric that matters, outside of the base clock. The base clock speed is the minimum a graphics card runs at, and the boost clock is the peak.
RTX 3060 | GTX 1080 | |
CUDA Cores | 3584 | 2560 |
Base Clock | 1.32 | 1.6 |
Boost Clock | 1.78 | 1.733 |
Memory Size (GB) | 12 | 8 |
Memory Type | GDDR6 | GDDR5X |

Real-world performance is a much better indicator than specs and metrics. Benchmarks tell us what we can really expect when we apply the metrics to specific workloads, like video games such as Fortnite. Where you will really see a bigger jump is when you compare the RTX 3060 to the RTX 3060 Ti or 3070 Ti.
RTX 3060 Fortnite Benchmark
By looking at benchmarks for the RTX 3060, a person can know whether or not it will be a good fit for their gaming experience. In this case, we are looking at Fortnite. Performance will vary for everyone depending on the other components in their system. Overclocking, background applications, and streaming also have an impact on performance. These benchmark statistics are more designed to help give an impression or overall understanding of what the experience could be. Not what it will be.

The benchmarks provided are based on the average FPS experienced using NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. The first test was performed using 1080P resolution on Epic presets. An average of 140 FPS was achieved. The second test was performed using 1440P resolution on Epic presets and an average of 90 FPS was achieved. The third test used 4K resolution on Epic presets and only achieved about 50 FPS.
Analysis of the Benchmark
This analysis on the benchmark test of the RTX 3060 graphics card against Fortnite will discuss the results received. 140 FPS on 1080P is excellent for a smooth gaming experience. You will not see stuttering or lag unless it is from your internet connection. At 90 FPS on 1440P resolution, you are still receiving a smooth experience. Once you hit 4K resolution, you fall below the 60 FPS threshold. It is well documented that below 60 FPS is when the gaming experience starts to go downhill. However, at 50 FPS it might not be very noticeable. If it is noticeable, it may or may not be an annoyance to you depending on your expectations.
