The purpose of this article is to discuss the performance of a list of NVIDIA graphics cards for Fortnite. Before downloading the game, gamers need to know whether or not the graphics card in their laptop or desktop computer will be able to handle Fortnite. The challenge is that there are so many graphics cards out there it’s hard to understand where graphics cards rank on the scale of minimum to recommended graphics cards. This article will discuss all the major graphics cards that will and will not work for Fortnite. It will also discuss the gaming experience each graphics card will provide.
The first thing you need to know in order to figure out if your graphics card will work with Fortnite is the model of your current graphics card. You can easily find it in Windows by looking at your ‘System Information’. Pull it up by pressing the Windows Key and searching for ‘System Information’. Once you’re there, open the Components menu and click on Display.

Gameplay and Graphics Terms
- FPS – Frames Per Second. This is how many high resolution image frames your graphics card can produce in a second. Gamers should seek to have 60 FPS for a smooth gaming experience.
- Resolutions – 1080p, 1440p, and 4K are the modern resolutions being played.
- 1920 x 1080 (1080p)
- 2560 x 1440 (1440p)
- 3840 x 2160 (4K)
- 2560 x 1080 (Ultra-Wide 1080p)
- 3440 x 1440 (Ultra-Wide 1440p)

- VRAM – Video RAM. This is the amount of memory on the graphics card. Modern memory capacities are 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, 10GB, 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB. The more memory you have the better games will generally play.
- Benchmarks – Benchmarks tell us real world experience using a combination of hardware to measure its performance while playing games.
- Raytracing – Raytracing is a new technology that simulates real world lighting and how it reflects off objects like water, cars, shadows, and other types of things.

If your graphics card was manufactured more than 10 years ago, then you can bet they are not going to be a good fit for new games like Fortnite. It’s best to start budgeting for a new graphics card. GeForce 700 NVIDIA Graphics Cards for Fortnite
Most of the lower end models of the GeForce 700 series graphics cards are not going to be able to handle Fortnite on 1080p resolution. You will need at least the GeForce 750 Ti in order to get a decent FPS on low and medium graphics settings. Buyer beware, there are several better options on the market for graphics cards than this model series. Buying the 700 series at this point would be a waste of money. The GeForce 700 series includes:
GeForce 710 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 710 series graphics card will provide a pretty terrible experience for Fortnite especially for those gamers who wish to play at 1080p resolution. Do not expect over 20-30 FPS and only play on low graphics settings.

GeForce 730 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 730 series graphics card gets a little better than the lower end 700 series cards, but not by much. On low settings at 1080p resolution, the 730 can achieve 20-30 FPS, which is not good. Sure, you can play it, but you are at a real disadvantage.
GeForce 740 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 740 series graphics card gets a little better than the lower end 700 series cards, but not by much. On low settings at 1080p resolution, the 740 can achieve 30-40 FPS, which is not good. Sure, you can play it, but you are at a real disadvantage.
GeForce 750 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 750 series graphics card can at least get above 100 FPS on low settings with 1080p resolution. This is what would be considered a bare minimum for a gaming graphics card in 2022. Even on medium graphics settings, you get above 60 FPS, which is ideal. Once you hit high graphics settings, you fall below the 60 FPS threshold. It would not be advisable to play at this level, but especially not advisable to play with Epic graphics settings.
GeForce 760 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 760 series graphics card is definitely better able to handle Fortnite than lower end models of the 700 series. On low end graphics settings at 1080p resolution, you can achieve over 100 FPS, on medium 80-90 FPS, but on high you still won’t get over 50-60 FPS which would be ideal.
GeForce 770 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
No real-world results were found for the GeForce 770 graphics card for Fortnite, but given the specs below, there are some assumptions that can be made:

With these specs, it can be assumed that you can play Fortnite on high settings with somewhere between 50-70 FPS, which is okay. It should produce better results than the 760, which we know can handle low and medium graphics settings on 1080p resolution well, at about 80-90 FPS on medium graphics. Given this is an upgrade from the 760, you should be able to play on high graphics settings with medium resolution just fine. It is not however, likely that this will play well with Epic settings.
GeForce 780 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With the GeForce 780 series graphics card, you will be able to play Fortnite at 190-220 FPS with low settings on 1080p. On medium settings, you’ll achieve 120-140 FPS, and on high settings, you’ll achieve over 70 FPS. Once you go to Epic, however, you’ll drop below 60 but usually stay above 50 FPS. The GeForce 780 series graphics card is not ideal for people who want to play Fortnite on 1080p resolution with Epic graphics.
GeForce 800M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce 800M Series graphics cards are for laptops, so they are not as strong as their desktop counterparts. That being said, here is a rundown of how they will perform with Fortnite.
GeForce 820M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
You can forget playing Fortnite with the 820M series graphics card. There is just not enough horsepower to even play on low graphics settings with a 1366×768 resolution.
GeForce 830M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The 830M series graphics card is also not one that can really handle Fortnite all that well. Running and gunning might get you 40-60 FPS on low settings with 1366×768 resolution but it’s still pretty choppy and not all that good for this game. Better look for a laptop with a higher end graphics card.
GeForce 840M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With the 840M series graphics card, you might peak at 65 FPS on low settings with 1366×768 resolution. That might make the game playable, but it’s still not good.
GeForce 850M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The 850M series graphics card will play Fortnite at 70-90 FPS on low graphics settings with 1366×768 resolution. This will provide a good gaming experience while on low graphics settings. Once you move to medium graphics settings, the performance is still pretty good at about 60-80 FPS. However, once you switch to high graphics settings, that performance drops down to a cold 20-30 FPS. As long as your okay playing on low or medium settings at 1366×768 resolution, the 850M will do just fine.
GeForce 860M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The 860M series graphics card produces about 40-60 FPS on medium settings at 1080p. It seems to go a little higher on low graphics settings, but not by a noticeable difference. The 860M isn’t going to be able to handle high or epic graphics settings.
GeForce 870M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
There were no benchmarks found for Fortnite with the GeForce 870M series graphics card, however, the specs on NVIDIA’s website show similar clock-speeds to the Intel HD 4000, which is listed as Fortnite’s minimum requirement for graphics. I am led to assume, given other benchmarks for the 800M series graphics card that you can play Fortnite fine on low or medium graphics settings at 1080p or 1366×768 resolution and still achieve 40-70 FPS.
GeForce 880M Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
Similar to the 870M series graphics cards, there were no benchmarks found for Fortnite with the GeForce 870M series graphics card. However, the specs on NVIDIA’s website show similar clock-speeds to the Intel HD 4000, which is listed as Fortnite’s minimum requirement for graphics. I am led to assume, given other benchmarks for the 800M series graphics card that you can play Fortnite fine on low or medium graphics settings at 1080p or 1366×768 resolution and still achieve 40-70 FPS.
GeForce 900 NVIDIA Graphics Cards for Fortnite
All of the GeForce 900 series graphics cards will be able to play Fortnite on low settings with over 100 FPS.
GeForce GTX 950 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 950 series graphics card will play Fortnite at 1080p resolution with low graphics settings at over 100 FPS, which is good. With medium graphics settings on 1080p, you are achieving 70-90 FPS. With high graphics settings on 1080p, you are at about 40-60 FPS, so not good.
GeForce GTX 960 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 960 series graphics card will play Fortnite at 1080p resolution with low graphics settings at over 100 FPS, which is good. With medium graphics settings on 1080p, you are achieving 80-90 FPS. With high graphics settings on 1080p, you are at about 40-60 FPS, so not good.
GeForce GTX 970 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 970 series graphics card will play Fortnite at 1080p resolution with low graphics settings at above 200 FPS, which is good. With medium graphics settings on 1080p, you are achieving 150-170 FPS. With high graphics settings on 1080p, you are at about 70-80 FPS which is good. Once you get into Epic settings, the FPS drops below 60, so not good enough for epic graphics settings.
GeForce GTX 980 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 980 series graphics card will play Fortnite at 1080p resolution with low graphics settings at above 200 FPS, which is good. With medium graphics settings on 1080p, you are achieving 150-170 FPS. With high graphics settings on 1080p, you are at about 70-80 FPS which is good. Once you get into Epic settings, the FPS usually stays above 60, which is good enough to play the game without any choppy experiences.
GeForce GTX 980 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 980 Ti series graphics card will play Fortnite at 1080p resolution with epic graphics settings at above 100 FPS, which is good. With the GTX 980 Ti graphics card, you will even be able to play Fortnite on 1440p resolution at between 70-90 FPS with epic graphics settings, which is a huge leap forward from previous models. This is probably the best budget graphics card you can get for Fortnite without going to 4K.
GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB NVIDIA Graphics Card for Fortnite
I have no doubt the GTX Titan X 12GB graphics cards would easily handle Fortnite on all settings at 1080p or 1440p resolution. These graphics cards were produced in 2015 and 2016 and have maximum capacity of 12GB (GeForce Titan X) with a memory transfer per second (MT/s) of 7010. The GeForce 950 4GB graphics card comes close to the 960 in terms of MT/s at 6610 and actually has a boost clock speed that surpasses the base clock speed of the GTX 960.
That being said, there are no real good benchmarks specifically for Fortnite with the GTX Titan X 12GB series graphics card. Details on FPS cannot be provided.
GeForce 1000 NVIDIA Graphics Card for Fortnite
The 1000 series GeForce graphics cards are a step up from the 900 series. That being said, the 980 Ti series is going to provide more performance than the lower end 1000 series models.
GeForce GT 1010 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GT 1010 will be able to play Fortnite on low graphics settings with 1080p resolution and still achieve over 60 FPS. There weren’t any quality benchmarks I could find that could detail out other benchmark details for other graphics settings or resolutions.
GeForce GT 1020 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
There were no quality benchmarks found for the GeForce GT 1020 graphics card for Fortnite. Given the GeForce 1010 series graphics card can play Fortnite on 1080p resolution with low graphics settings, I would assume this would be a little bit of a step up from that but not by too much.
GeForce GT 1030 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GT 1030 really is not all that great of a graphics card for Fortnite. It can play 1440p resolution with an average of 40-50 FPS, but performs better on 1080p resolution with low graphics settings which result in an average of 130-140 FPS. Once you move those settings to medium, you go down to 40-50 FPS on 1080p resolution.
GeForce GTX 1050 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
At 1080p resolution with low graphics settings, you can expect to achieve 150-170 FPS with the GeForce GTX 1050 series graphics card, which is good. Once you move into medium graphics settings, those FPS numbers change to about 80-100 FPS on average, which is still good. Once you move into high graphics settings, those FPS numbers drop to between 40-60 FPS, which is not ideal and produces a choppy gaming experience.
GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With low graphics settings at 1080p, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti will produce 150-170 FPS on Fortnite, which is good. At medium graphics settings on 1080p resolution, the FPS drops to about 90-100. On high graphics settings at 1080p resolution, that drops down to 40-60 FPS, which is not good.
GeForce GTX 1060 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 1060 series graphics card can produce over 160 FPS on low graphics settings with 1080p resolution. At medium graphics settings with 1080p, the FPS drops to 130-140. At high graphics settings with 1080p resolution, the FPS drops to 80-90. With Epic settings, you are achieving 50-60 FPS on 1080p resolution, which is not good enough for a great gaming experience.
GeForce GTX 1070 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With epic graphics settings on 1080p resolution, the GeForce GTX 1070 can produce over 90 FPS, which is great. Even at 1440p resolution on performance and competitive graphics settings, this card is pushing over 150 FPS. Even at 4K competitive settings this card produces over 90 FPS. Given these stats, I would say the GTX 1070 series graphics card is the ultimate budget gaming card for gamers who want to play Fortnite on 4K resolution.
GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
Average FPS for the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card on epic settings with 1080p will result in an average of 80-100 FPS. Even epic settings with 1440p resolution will result in 40-75 FPS. Once you move to epic settings on 4K however, those FPS numbers drop to about 20-40 FPS. Medium and high graphics settings will no doubt improve the FPS numbers on 4K resolution, but if you’re on 4K resolution, you are also probably the type to want the best graphics.
GeForce GTX 1080 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
Competitive graphics settings for the GeForce GTX 1080 series graphics card will result in over 200 FPS for both 1080p and 1440p resolutions. That’s really good. Once you move to high graphics settings for the GTX 1080, those numbers drop to about 120 FPS for 1080p and 90-110 FPS for 1440p resolutions. 4K resolution with epic graphics settings will result in less than 50 FPS, but high graphics settings with 4K resolution will result in over 60 FPS.
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will play epic graphics settings on 1080p, 1440p, and 4K just fine. Once you hit 4K, though, your FPS can drop below 60.
GeForce 2000 RTX NVIDIA Graphics Card for Fortnite
All of the GeForce 2000 RTX series graphics cards meet the minimum requirements for Fortnite. The top end models of this series will push you past 1440p into 4K and allow you to get good FPS numbers.
GeForce RTX 2060 6GB Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
On Epic settings with 1080p resolution, you can expect to get above 60 FPS with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB series graphics card. Once you move into 1440p resolution on epic settings, those FPS numbers drop to the 40-50 range, which is not ideal. It’s even worse when you try 4K as that produces a goopy sub 20 FPS. If you add NVIDIA’s DLSS technology, that can increase the FPS a little bit making epic settings on 1440p better.
GeForce RTX 2060 Super Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce RTX 2060 Super series graphics card is an excellent choice for gamers who would like to game in 1440p resolution with epic graphics settings. It’ll handle up to about 90-100 FPS. That being said, if your monitor has a refresh rate of 144MHz, you will not be taking full advantage of its refresh rate. For that you should aim for 144 FPS. However, 90-100FPS will provide a smooth gaming experience.
GeForce RTX 2070 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With epic graphic settings on 1440p resolution, you can expect to achieve above 50 FPS, which is not really all that good. You’ll likely have some choppy game play. 1080p with epic graphics settings or lower graphics settings on 1440p will give you better FPS and is what you should be playing at.
GeForce RTX 2070 Super Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The 2070 Super series graphics card for Fortnite should be able to handle 50-60 FPS on max (epic) settings on 4K resolution. At 1440p with Epic settings, you should be achieving over 120 FPS. If you have an RTX 2070 Super series graphics card, you probably aren’t playing on 1080p resolution, but needless to say, this graphics card can handle it whatever the setting.
GeForce RTX 2080 Super Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
With epic graphics settings enabled, the RTX 2080 Super should be providing 80-90 FPS on 1440p resolution. On 4K resolution with epic settings enabled, this card should be producing 40-50 FPS, which is not great, but playable. On high graphics settings with 4K, you can achieve above a 100 FPS.
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
At 1440p resolution with Epic settings, this graphics card is going to be able to produce 140-150 FPS. At 4K resolution with Epic settings, you’ll be pushing past 70 FPS. That being said, the only thing from preventing this card’s performance is the refresh rate of the monitor. If you have this card, make sure your monitor can handle a faster refresh rate than 60FPS to take full advantage of the performance.
GeForce RTX 3000 NVIDIA Graphics Cards for Fortnite
GeForce RTX 3050 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
The GeForce RTX 3050 series graphics card will be able to easily handle 4K resolution with high graphics settings and DLSS balance with 60+ FPS. Without DLSS balancing, you’re at about 30-40 FPS. At 1440p resolution with high graphics settings and DLSS balance, you can expect to experience 90+ FPS, but without DLSS balance you’ll be at around 60 FPS. Needless to say, you can max out graphics settings on 1080p resolution.
GeForce RTX 3060 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite
At 1440p resolution with epic settings enabled, you can expect to achieve over 100 FPS with the GeForce RTX 3060 series graphic card. At 4K resolution with epic settings, ray tracing, and DLSS balancing, you will be experiencing a solid 70-80 FPS. Definitely a good card for gamers with a high demand for graphics and performance.

The GeForce RTX 3070 Series Graphics Card for Fortnite without ray tracing and DLSS balancing can achieve 60 FPS with epic graphics settings. At lower settings on 4K resolution it can achieve over 200 FPS. Of course, once you move down to 1440p resolution the FPS on epic settings is still high at 140+ FPS, which is great for monitors with faster refresh rates (144 MHz).
