The purpose of this article is to discuss the performance rating you can expect to achieve on COD MW2 and Warzone 2 using the GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. First, we will talk a little bit about the GeForce RTX 2060. Then we will take a look at the system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022). Then we will look at how the RTX 2060 graphics card will perform by comparing it to the recommended system requirements. We will also review the best in game settings for the RTX 2060 graphics card for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.

About the GeForce RTX 2060 Graphics Card

The GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card is the next generation of the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. It was first introduced in January of 2019 and launched with an MSRP of $349. The RTX 20 series is based on the Turing architecture, which had significant technology improvements on the Pascal architecture (i.e. GTX 1060). The new features include a claim that it has a 30-50% increase in image rasterization speed. It also introduced Ray Tracing, which handles in a new way how light is reflected and shadows are produced. You can read more about the Turing architecture here.

The RTX 2060 graphics card is considered a mid-range graphics card. It comes with configuration options of 6GB or 12GB of VRAM (dedicated desktop GPU). The laptop RTX 2060 graphics card only comes with the configuration for 6GB of VRAM. There were also two versions of the RTX 2060 that was released. The first version was released in 2019 and the second version was released in 2020. The 2020 version has 12GB of VRAM and is what we will focus on for this assessment.

System Requirements for Modern Warfare 2 (Warzone 2)

The system requirements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) were somewhat surprisingly lower than I had originally expected. I honestly thought they were going to make the recommended graphics card requirements the GTX 1070 but I was clearly mistaken. Instead, they chose the GTX 1060 which I think they were right to do. If you look at the Steam Hardware Survey, you will find that the #1 graphics card in use is the GTX 1060.

The GeForce RTX 2060 lands much further ahead of the GTX 1060 graphics card, but by how much? For that, we need to compare the technical specs of the RTX 2060 to the GTX 1060.

RTX 2060 for COD MW2 and Warzone 2.0

The table below illustrates at a high level the different specs of the recommended graphics card – the GTX 1060 to the RTX 2060.

As you can see from the table above, the GeForce RTX 2060 is largely more advanced than the GTX 1060 in terms of CUDA cores, VRAM size and memory type. Performance of the RTX 2060 has promising results for those who game on 1080P and even has decent results for 1440P. You can see this in the benchmark video from zWORMz Gaming:

zWORMz Gaming – Benchmarking the RTX 2060 on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

In the video, we see Kryzzp average 102 FPS on 1080P with ultra settings and 61 FPS on 1440P with ultra settings. What this means in terms of performance is that you are highly unlikely to see any stuttering or performance issues and you can game with the maximum graphics settings for an ultra-immersive experience.

I recommend the in-game settings below for graphics cards that exceed the recommended system requirement (i.e. GTX 1060). You can feel free to play around with these and tweak them for a better experience, but this should serve as a good starting point.
