In this post, I will share my review of the RTX 4070 Ti for Hogwarts Legacy, which will include expected performance metrics. I will also provide a review of the build I recommend for Hogwarts Legacy. In short, the RTX 4070 Ti will perform well for Hogwarts Legacy, but take a look at the graph below for more details.
From the graph above, you can see the performance results of frames per second (FPS) across three different resolutions: 4K, 1440P, and 1080P. We measure in FPS because it tells us how many graphic images are being pushed to the screen per second. Lower than 60 FPS results in jitter or choppiness, so ideally you want to stay above that.
You need to use DLSS for Hogwarts Legacy because the graphics are so intense. Without DLSS, you are likely going to experience choppy gameplay.
What is DLSS and Why Do I need it for Hogwarts?
NVIDIA’s DLSS stands for “Deep Learning Super Sampling.” It’s an advanced technology developed by NVIDIA that uses artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques, specifically deep neural networks, to enhance real-time graphics rendering in video games and other graphics-intensive applications.
DLSS leverages the power of machine learning to upscale lower-resolution images to higher resolutions in real-time. It works by rendering the game at a lower resolution internally and then using AI-based algorithms to upscale and reconstruct the image to the target resolution (like 1080p to 4K). This process allows for improved performance by reducing the workload on the graphics processing unit (GPU) while still delivering high-quality visuals that approximate or sometimes even surpass native resolutions.
You need DLSS for Hogwarts Legacy on the 4070 Ti because without it you won’t be able to get the performance needed for 4K. Performance will also suffer on 1440P and 1080P but will still be playable on those resolutions without DLSS. It’s also a simple in-game setting you can turn on. So, why not?
Review of the PC for Hogwarts Legacy – Skytech Azure 2
If you are looking for a PC with the 4070 Ti for playing Hogwarts Legacy, I recommend the Skytech Azure 2. I wrote a full review of the Skytech Azure 2 you can read here.
What I love about the Skytech Azure 2 is that it is a very well-balanced mid-range prebuilt PC. It’s perfect for playing modern AAA games on 1080P and 1440P resolutions. You can achieve 4K resolution with DLSS on Hogwarts Legacy and still get above 50 FPS. This PC has the Intel i5 13600K which can be overclocked (note the K in the name). Of course, it has the RTX 4070 Ti, but what makes this really play Hogwarts well is the amount of RAM – 32GB DDR5. That’s huge for Hogwarts since it does take a lot of RAM.
RTX 4070 Ti Performance on Other Games
The RTX 4070 Ti will be a good performer for Hogwarts Legacy. But it also delivers a lot of good performance for other games as well. You can expect the RTX 4070 Ti to provide similar or better performance than Hogwarts. I wrote some other reviews you can check out for other games using the 4070 Ti.
