RTX 4070 Review for COD MW3

Posted on February 25, 2024January 7, 2024 By Eriksson No Comments on RTX 4070 Review for COD MW3

My purpose for this post is to discuss my RTX 4070 Review for COD MW3 and how it performs. I will discuss the RTX 4070 and how it stacks up against its closest competitors, the RTX 4060 Ti and the RTX 4070 Ti. Additionally, I will share a review of a well-balanced PC build that pairs very nicely with the RTX 4070.

RTX 4070 Performance for COD MW3

When we look at the graph shown above we see several performance measurements (benchmarks). These performance benchmarks show you frames per second (FPS) on different resolution settings. You should review this graph through the context of your desired resolution settings. Anything above 60 FPS is considered good, so you don’t have to worry about whether or not this graphics card can handle COD MW3. Your question becomes, “which resolution should I play on?”.

If you prefer 4K gaming, then you should expect to see around 85 FPS with the RTX 4070 on ultra graphics settings. 1440P resolution with maximum graphics settings nets around 125 FPS. And 1080P resolution with maximum graphics settings returns about 180-185 FPS.

Performance-wise your best bet is always going to be 1080P. You have a little bit of a competitive advantage vs someone who plays on 4K and has lower FPS, but many argue that the difference is minimal and difficult to notice.

RTX 4070 PC Build

For these performance benchmarks, I would reference the Skytech Nebula prebuilt gaming PC. This build comes with the RTX 4070, Intel i5 12400F, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe storage at a price you likely won’t be able to match if you build it on your own.

What makes this build great is the pairing between the intel i5 12400F processor and the RTX 4070 graphics card. You wouldn’t want to put a 13th gen Intel i7 or i9 processor with the RTX 4070 because it would be overkill for the GPU. This is a well-balanced mid-range PC that is perfect for COD MW3.

RTX 4070 vs Other GPUs for COD MW3

From a performance standpoint, you should expect results to be linear. If you step down to the RTX 4060 Ti, you may not get as great of performance as you would with the RTX 4070. If you step up, you’re going to get better performance. In my opinion, the real difference in these is going to come down to the price-to-performance ratio of the graphics cards and ultimately your budget. You can find the RTX 4070 pricing (MSRP) on NVIDIA’s website but I provide the breakdown here.

These graphics cards are what I would consider the nearest NVIDIA competitors to the RTX 4070. You can see right off the bat that there is a pretty wide gap between the RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 4070. In my opinion, the price gap is not worth it if all you are going to play is COD MW3. The real competitor here is the RTX 4060 Ti. It’s not going to get you as good of performance on COD MW3 but if you’re okay with 1080P or 1440P resolution or changing DLSS settings to get 4K resolution, then you may want to also consider the RTX 4060 Ti graphics card for its lower price point.
