Skytech 2 vs Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader

Skytech has introduced the Azure 2, a significant advancement over its forerunner, the Skytech Nebula, aimed at delivering improved equilibrium and upgraded specifications. Marketed as a significant enhancement, this newest computer hosts the nearly latest Intel i5 13600K processor, placing users at the forefront of cutting-edge technology. Yet, it’s essential to highlight that Intel introduced its 14th generation processors in October 2023, prompting potential buyers to take notice of these recent developments.

Much like Owlcat’s previous games such as Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Rogue Trader follows the isometric role-playing video game style and heavily incorporates the d100 TTRPG system.

Players oversee a party of six characters, including their own, navigating ground combat and engaging in social interactions. The game employs a turn-based combat system and presents an isometric perspective. A notable aspect is its focus on realm-building, where the player’s choices as a Rogue Trader significantly impact the overall gameplay as they construct their space empire. Additionally, space combat mechanics are included, and the game offers support for cooperative multiplayer mode.

The system requirements for Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader are:

  • OS: Win10
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 570 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 40 GB available space

The Skytech Azure 2 will have no problem playing Rogue Trader at 1440P or 4K resolution (if the game supports 4K).

The Processor Behind Skytech’s Azure 2

The processor behind Skytech’s Azure 2 is an Intel i5 13600K processor. This processor dominates the recommended processor from Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader, the Intel i5-6400. Here’s a brief comparison:

The Total Cores and Threads:

  • The 14-core processor significantly surpasses the 4-core, 4-thread i5-6400 in terms of processing power. The 14-core processor can handle more simultaneous tasks and multithreaded applications due to its higher core count (14 cores and 20 threads) compared to the i5-6400’s 4 cores and 4 threads.

Clock Speeds:

  • The newer processor boasts higher clock speeds across various categories. Its Max Turbo Frequency of 5.3 GHz exceeds the i5-6400’s maximum turbo speed. Moreover, the base frequencies for both the performance and efficient cores of the advanced CPU surpass those of the i5-6400, indicating faster processing capabilities.

Cache:

  • In terms of cache, the more advanced processor has a larger total cache size (24 MB Intel® Smart Cache) compared to the i5-6400, which typically has around 6-8 MB of cache. A larger cache size generally allows for quicker access to frequently used data, enhancing overall performance.

Overall, the 14-core processor with its higher core count, superior clock speeds, and larger cache size signifies a notable advancement in performance compared to the i5-6400. This upgrade may result in significantly improved multitasking capabilities, faster processing speeds, and better performance in demanding tasks like gaming, content creation, and multitasking.

Graphics Card Behind Skytech’s Azure 2

In terms of raw specifications, the RTX 4070 Ti significantly outperforms the GTX 1050 Ti in every aspect. The number of CUDA cores is substantially higher in the 4070 Ti, indicating much greater computational power for graphics rendering and processing. Additionally, the RTX 4070 Ti’s boost clock is higher, which contributes to faster performance.

Moreover, the RTX 4070 Ti comes with a much larger and faster VRAM (12GB GDDR6X) compared to the GTX 1050 Ti (4GB GDDR5). This enhanced memory capacity and improved memory type significantly impact the card’s ability to handle higher resolution textures, render complex scenes, and support higher display resolutions and refresh rates.

Overall, the RTX 4070 Ti is a high-end, enthusiast-grade GPU designed for modern gaming at high resolutions and frame rates, while the GTX 1050 Ti is an older, mid-range card suitable for 1080p gaming with lower settings and performance compared to the RTX 4070 Ti. Here is a direct comparison between the two graphics cards:

  1. CUDA Cores:
    • RTX 4070 Ti: 7680 CUDA Cores
    • GTX 1050 Ti: 768 CUDA Cores
  2. Boost Clock:
    • RTX 4070 Ti: 2.61 GHz
    • GTX 1050 Ti: Around 1.4 GHz (actual boost clock varies between different models)
  3. Memory Size and Type:
    • RTX 4070 Ti: 12 GB GDDR6X
    • GTX 1050 Ti: 4 GB GDDR5

RAM and Storage

The Azure 2 is geared towards future-proofing with its 32GB DDR5 5200MHz RAM, ensuring consistent performance not only for 2023 but potentially for the years ahead. Its 1TB NVME storage not only offers rapid data access but also accommodates extensive gaming collections and multitasking demands. For extra storage needs, alternatives like the Buffalo LinkStation offer a dependable backup and storage solution, complementing the NVME capacity without overwhelming it.
