Finding Your Graphics Card Information
The first thing you need to know in order to figure out if your graphics card will work with Far Cry 6 is the model of your current graphics card. You can easily find it in Windows by looking at your ‘System Information’. Pull it up by pressing the Windows Key and searching for ‘System Information’. Once you’re there, open the Components menu and click on Display.

The minimum requirement for running the HD Texture Pack for Far Cry 6 is 12GB of VRAM. For 4K configurations, you will need 16GB of VRAM.

AMD Radeon Graphics Cards
AMD R5/R7/R9 200 Series
If you’re running a AMD R5/R7/R9 200 series graphics card, then you will need a new graphics card to play Far Cry 6. These graphics cards do not meet the same specifications as the AMD RX 460 and lack core processing power, VRAM, and memory throughput to keep up with the demand.
Radeon RX 300 Series
If you’re running a AMD 300 series graphics card, then it is unlikely you will be able to play Far Cry 6. The only graphics card that comes close to meeting the minimum requirements is the RX 390 series. It has the VRAM but does not have the processing power or memory throughput to keep up at a solid 60 FPS. You can play it, but performance is degraded.
Radeon RX 400 Series
Of the Radeon RX 400 Series models, the AMD RX 460 4GB and above meet the minimum system requirements of Far Cry 6. Those models include:

- Radeon RX 470
- Radeon RX 470D
- Radeon RX 480
Any of the lower models do not meet the minimum requirements:

- Radeon R5 435
- Radeon R7 430

There are no laptop graphics cards in the Radeon RX 400 series that meet minimum specifications in Far Cry 6.
Radeon RX 500 Series
Radeon RX 500 series graphics cards will not be able to consistently and reliably deliver 60 FPS. The 560, 570, 580 models can make game play experience bearable but with a sacrifice of graphics and FPS. At a bare minimum, you need the 550X 4GB graphics card or better to meet the minimum requirements for gameplay. These models will not meet those minimum requirements:

- Radeon RX 520X 2GB
These models meet the minimum requirements:

Radeon RX Vega Series
The Radeon RX Vega series of dedicated graphics cards will be able to meet the minimum system requirements (RX Vega 56) and the recommended system requirements for Far Cry 6 (RX Vega 64).
The RX Vega series only includes two desktop graphics cards. The other RX Vega GPUs are embedded in the Ryzen processors and are integrated graphics (APUs).
Radeon RX 5000 Series
Most of the RX 5000 series graphics cards exceed the minimum requirements and many of them also exceed the recommended requirements for Far Cry 6. The AMD Radeon 5300 graphics card is the only graphics card in the 5000 family that does not at least meet the minimum requirements. Here are the AMD Radeon RX 5000 graphics cards that do meet the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 6:
- AMD Radeon 5300 XT
- AMD Radeon 5500
- Radeon RX 5600
- Radeon RX 5600 XT
These Radeon RX 5000 series graphics cards will meet the recommended system requirements for Far Cry 6:
- AMD Radeon 5500 XT 8GB
- Radeon RX 5700
The Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB graphics card is capable of a 2K configuration at 60 FPS without Raytracing.
The Radeon RX 5300M is a laptop graphics card and will not meet the minimum specifications for Far Cry 6. The Radeon RX 5500M and Radeon RX 5600M meet the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 6, but not the recommended system requirements. The Radeon RX 5700M will meet its recommended system requirements.
Radeon RX 6000 series
The AMD Radeon RX 6000 series has graphics cards that will meet minimum specifications, recommended specifications, 2K configurations, and 4K configurations (at 30 FPS). The graphics cards below are only capable of meeting the minimum system requirements for Far Cry 6:
- Radeon RX 6400
- Radeon RX 6500 XT
You may be able to get the AMD Radeon RX 6600 and 6600 XT to play 2K configurations, but performance may not be optimal. The graphics cards below are capable of meeting the recommended system requirements for Far Cry 6 but could stretch into 2K configurations:
- Radeon RX 6600
- Radeon RX 6600 XT
The Radeon 6900 XT is the recommended graphics card for 2K configuration with Raytracing on, which is benchmarked at 60 FPS. The AMD Radeon 6800 is the recommended graphics card for 4K configurations with Raytracing on, and can do so at 30 FPS. The system specifications listed on AMD’s website shows that the 6900 XT has more performance than the 6800. Therefore, it would seem that the 6900 XT would also be able to meet the 4K configuration with Raytracing on. Benchmarks indicate that the 6900 XT can even hit 60 FPS.
NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Cards
GeForce 700 Series
If you’re running a GeForce 700 series graphics card, then you will need a new graphics card to play Far Cry 6. The GeForce 700 series includes:

- GeForce 730
- GeForce 745
- GeForce 750
- GeForce 760
- GeForce 770
- GeForce 780
These graphics cards were produced in 2014 and have maximum capacity of 4GB with a memory transfer per second (MT/s) of 1800. Compared to the NVIDIA 960 4GB, it has 7010 MT/s, a huge difference.
GeForce 800 Series
If you’re running a GeForce 800 series graphics card, then you will need a new graphics card to play Far Cry 6. The GeForce 800 series includes:
- GeForce 800
- GeForce 820
- GeForce 830
- GeForce 840
- GeForce 850
- GeForce 860
- GeForce 870
- GeForce 880
These graphics cards were also produced in 2014 and have maximum capacity of 8GB with a memory transfer per second (MT/s) of 5000. Compared to the NVIDIA 960 4GB, it has 7010 MT/s, still a big difference.

GeForce 900 Series
If you’re running a GeForce 900 series graphics card, then chances are you will be able to play as long as your graphics card meets the minimum standards of the GeForce 960. The GeForce 900 series models include:
- GeForce GTX 950 4GB
- GeForce GTX 960 4GB
- GeForce GTX 970 4GB
- GeForce GTX 980 4GB
- GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB
- GeForce GTX Titan X 12GB
These graphics cards were produced in 2015 and 2016 and have maximum capacity of 12GB (GeForce Titan X) with a memory transfer per second (MT/s) of 7010. The GeForce 950 4GB graphics card comes close to the 960 in terms of MT/s at 6610 and actually has a boost clock speed that surpasses the base clock speed of the GTX 960.
From a mobile gaming or gaming laptop perspective, GeForce has the 900M series architecture. Unfortunately, when it comes to gaming GPU’s the only 900M series GPU that makes the cut is the GeForce 980M 8GB GPU. It is the only one with a transfer speed of 7010, however it’s base clock speed is not as high as the 960, only its boost clock speed surpasses it at 1216 MHz.
GeForce 1000 Series
You might think even the low-end GeForce 1000 series should be able to handle Far Cry 6 since it is a whole generation above the GeForce 960. That is not the case however. These GeForce models will not work with Far Cry 6:
- GeForce GT 1010 2GB
- GeForce GT 1020 2GB
- GeForce GT 1030 2GB
- GeForce GTX 1050 2GB
- GeForce GTX 1050 3GB
- GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
The main problem with these GeForce 1000 series models is that they don’t meet the VRAM specification of at least 4GB. Some of them also lack performance power measured in MT/s.
These models will all meet the minimum recommended requirements for Far Cry 6:

- GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (GDDR5X)
And finally, these GeForce 1000 series models all meet the recommended systems requirements

Similarly to the desktop models, many mobile laptop GeForce 1000 series models do not meet the minimum requirements of Far Cry 6:

All of the GeForce 2000 RTX series graphics cards meet the minimum requirements for Far Cry 6. Most of them meet the recommended system requirements except:

All of these graphics cards exceed the recommended system requirements for Far Cry 6:
- GeForce RTX 2060 TU104
- GeForce RTX 2060 Super
- GeForce RTX 2070
If you have the GeForce RTX 2070 Super or above, you will be able to play at 2K resolution with 60 FPS. The GeForce RTX 2070 Super has a base clock speed of 1605 MHz, 4 MB of L2 Cache, 8GB VRAM, and 14,000 MT/s. These models meet the recommended configurations for 2K resolution with 60FPS:
- GeForce RTX 2070 Super
- GeForce RTX 2080
- GeForce RTX 2080 Super
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
- Nvidia Titan RTX
GeForce RTX 3000 Series
The GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards meet the recommended system requirements for 2K configurations with Raytracing off. Some of the GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards meet the recommended system requirements for 2K configurations with Raytracing on, and some of the GPUs meet the system requirements for 4K configuration (30 FPS, Raytracing On).
These models meet the system requirements for 2K configurations with Raytracing off:
- GeForce RTX 3050
- GeForce RTX 3060
These models meet the system requirements for 2K configurations with Raytracing on:
- GeForce RTX 3070
- GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
These models meet the system requirements for 4K configurations with Raytracing on:
- GeForce RTX 3080
- GeForce RTX 3080 Ti
- GeForce RTX 3090
- GeForce RTX 3090 Ti
The GeForce 3000 series laptop graphics cards have much less horsepower than their desktop counterparts.
These models will not meet the same specs of graphics cards for recommended system requirements of Far Cry 6, but do meet the minimum system requirements:
- GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop 4GB
- GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop 4GB
- GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop 6GB
You may be able to stretch the higher end of these models to do some 2K configurations, but generally these models meet the recommended system requirements:

The problem with the laptop graphics cards is that their core clocks are not as high performance as their desktop counterparts. Take for example the RTX 3080 Laptop graphics card compared to the RTX 2070 Super desktop graphics card. The RTX 3080 Laptop only has a base core clock of 1245-1710MHz, whereas the RTX 2070 desktop has 1605-1770MHz.
Will My Graphics Card Handle Far Cry 6?
